La banda de power pop estadounidense All Time Low, ha anunciado que rompió relaciones con su disquera Interscope Records y que grabaron su último álbum como una banda independiente.
A pocos meses del debut de nuevo álbum, All Time Low, revela que rompió relaciones con su disquera Interscope Records y que grabó dicho álbum de manera independiente como banda sin contrato.
Aquí un fragmento de su entrevista con Absolutepunk.net:
“Gran parte de este disco tiene que ver con nuestra incorporación, y eventual separación con Interscope. Fue la historia usual que nos prometimos nunca dejar que pasara: la banda firma con la disquera, la disquera invierte todo en la creación del nuevo disco de la banda, el equipo trabajando en el disco es despedido o es transferido a otra oficina, el disco es retrasado, el disco pierde potencia, la banda deja la disquera. No culpamos a las personas de Interscope por nada de esto. Las personas con las que trabajamos ahí fueron grandiosas y de verdad creían en nosotros. Hasta la gente que eventualmente llegaron e intentaron recoger las piezas que quedaban después de destrucción masiva, nos intentaban ayudar de manera genuina y real. Desafortunadamente nos perdimos en el relajo de grandes negocios y grandes tratos. Lección aprendida. No hay resentimientos. No es para nosotros. Les pedimos que nos liberaran de nuestro contrato, y ellos entendieron el porqué. El otro, y probablemente más importante tema de este disco, es el autodescubrimiento y el autoestima. Se trata de estar seguro de que no estás seguro, y estar bien con eso – darse cuenta que la vida es una aventura, y enfrentarlo con valor y sin pensarlo. Creemos que este tema juega parte con el primero; nunca dejes que nadie se meta con tus aspiraciones.”
(A good chunk of this record deals with our signing, and eventual split with Interscope. It was the usual story that we promised ourselves we’d never let happen: Band signs with label, label throws everything into the making of band’s new album, team working the record gets fired or moved to another office, record gets delayed, record loses steam, band leaves label. I don’t fault the folks at Interscope for any of this. The people we worked with were amazing, and really believed in us. Even the people who eventually came in to try and pick up the pieces left in the wake of massive restructuring, were genuinely trying to help. Unfortunately we got lost in the mess of big business and higher-ups making deals. Lesson learned. No hard feelings. It’s not for us. We asked to be released from our contract, and they understood why. The other, and more important theme of this record, is self discovery and confidence. It’s about being sure that you’re not sure, and being OK with that— realizing that life is an adventure, and to face it boldly and unabashedly. I think this theme even plays into the former quite a bit; Don’t let anyone mess with you aspirations.)
